And I'd guess the 2016's ECU hasn't learned someone's driving habits yet. But what's removing the battery cables for a reset between friends, right?

Learn the one weird trick to unleashing your engine's power

I picked up the vehicle last night and I suspect the dealership did something to fix the issue as the vehicle likes to move now. Coming from a 100 it almost seems too much power at times. I was having trouble keeping the vehicle within speed limit and had to work to keep it under 50 mph late last night driving it to mechanic.

Need to install radar detector and HID head and foglights

True about power. Compared to the 100, this thing feels like a rocket.

So a new rig then? Pics? Lets see the speed machine!

I'll get pics done tomorrow. I offroaded it with salesman last week to check suspension and its covered with mud.

Do the mud flaps cause the gravel/rocks to ricochet off the bottom of the car? I have driven it ~125 miles and I heard debris bounce twice off the bottom of the chassis. I noticed alot of little rocks getting caught in the cooper treads. The tires look brand new.

Normal for rocks to kick up like that.

Congrats on the new rig!!

Thanks, I officially buy it tomorrow once my mechanic makes

Thanks! I am still waiting on mechanic to finish looking at it before I finish the deal with dealer. I don't expect any problems as this is the cleanest early year LX/LC I have seen.

So, I have had the vehicle for 1.5 days and its not as fast as it was when I got it from the dealer. Its not the engine but its the shifting points/etc. If I put it into sports mode its a bit slower as well. Could 87 gas make the difference? I don't think so as it seems like engine computer is thinking too much when I floor it. I have tried flooring it 10 times repeatedly to see if I can get the engine computer to wake up but it isn't changing.

The night we got it, all of us took turns driving it and it was pulling like a beast. More than ample power for me. But it's gone to into limp granny mode (not as bad as when I first drove it but I am worried it will go back there).

Have you tried lightening the interior to reduce weight?

I'd call the dealer and ask them exactly what they did before you noticed it was significantly improved. THEN...tell them it is no longer improved.
Take it from there. If there is some sort of system issue they dealt with prior...that is now a problem again, then that establishes that they identified the issue, and felt it necessary to fix it. That SHOULD imply that they need to make sure their fix was permanent...and not only helpful for a few days.

Just being a smartass, but how is the new truck not much faster than the previous one? Is there really an issue with all the vehicles he drove?

It was ECU getting used to different drivers. My friends and I took turns driving it home. Because we didn't have a radar detector we couldn't drive it like we stole it properly. Also, there is a flat spot between 45-60mph. I kept the engine revved higher and it's been keeping the vehicle punchy.

In regards to the new vehicles, not many people are heavy on the gas with a 3 ton truck. I drove a new 2016 LX570 with 9 miles on it yesterday and it wasn't revving high or dropping gears when I tried flooring it. It wasn't slow either but it wasn't screaming fast. When Toyota ships vehicles they barely put any gas in it. We had to stop to put gas in the vehicle as it went into ECO mode to conserve mileage and the engine was starting to get real jerky.

It's always recommended, across manufacturers, to let the engine break in with no redlining for the first few hundred miles to prevent any warping or excessive oil consumption.

Enjoy the new truck!

Working at a dealership, a lot of people don't respect this good advice and recommended procedure LOL

We're on vehicle 7, relax and enjoy your truck

You mentioned the engine was preventing you from redlining it - sounds like Toyota might have put protective measures into the engine programming for 2016 models.

Make sure you push the ECT Power button. I find there's a significant difference in power and much better shift points when I take it out of Eco mode, so much so my wife recently complained because I forgot to put it back in Eco mode for her and she couldn't understand why the truck suddenly had so much extra power from a stoplight. We use 87 BTW.
