I'm planning to get the AC working on my 94' cruiser and wanted to solicit feedback on line replacement vs repair. As it currently stands the AC system is empty due to a hole in the line (red arrow) where it passes through the battery box. I was considering something such as an ATP line splice to make the repair, has anyone done this before? ATP Automotive

As it stands the AC system has not been used since I bought the truck two years ago. The previous owner has records for a new compressor and left the ac belt off to prevent accidental engagement since the system was empty.

This is likely something I'll hire out since I don't have the vacuum pump, gauges, etc.. to properly fill and setup the AC system once its repaired. Any tips or suggestions would be appreciated.

Personally, I'd take that 'new' compressor off, get it up on a bench and hand turn it to see what it feels like. IF it feels O.K. I'd remove the manifold, drain out the oil and replace. It has been exposed to 'atmosphere' for the last two years. Not a good idea to install a new part and then the system open.

Replacing or repairing the hard line are both viable options (if repaired correctly), but I suspect the repair would approach the cost of a new line.

I would also change receiver/ drier if it's been open for 2 seasons, $20 at rock auto, cheap insurance , i got my condenser there very reasonable though I don't think they had any of the lines or hoses
