Reviving this old thread because my VSV is clicking on and off and worried it may be on it's way out. (And I also now own the Cruiser that started this thread ;))

Is this part still available or is there an alternative? Below is what I have now.

That’s 88690-32280. Call a dealer and ask if still in stock (and how many)

That valve is easy to test: just apply 12v and should click and 'open' to allow vacuum/air and when 12v removed it's closed. You can try cleaning it, including pulling off that black cylinder thing, which is a filter, and blowing it out. A drop or two of WD40 in the nipple and in the tube where the filter is sometimes frees up the solenoid.

Otherwise, many of those valves are still available, and only about $30ish
I'll give it a shot. I know it's working, just starting to make a loud constant clicking noise.

FWIW, and for future searchers, all these VSVs function identically, what differs is the connector and the attachment bracket.

Also, Rockauto sells made-in-Japan Aisin VCVs (same thing - Aisin is also a Toyota VSV OEM) that can be adapted to whatever bracket you have. You have to swap the little black cylinder-filter over, as Toyota sells that separately (not in USA). Problem is the connector is different and you'll need to get the proper modern pigtail, 90980-11162 . Lots of aftermarket pigtail on ebay under that part #

Haven't had the chance, but plan to this week.
Were you able to inquire with them?
I checked with the dealership a few weeks ago. There were 2 left in the states and one was at a Lexus dealership. They wanted over $400 for it, so i went the @Spike Strip route and ordered the Rock Auto Aisin VSV and Ebay pigtail route. Below is a screenshot form the Toyota Parts website.

It was $44 MSRP before. I don’t know what happened. Several magnet valves shot up in price for no reason.

Alright. So I replaced the VSV along with the pigtail. I also replaced the vacuum hose going to the booster because it was cracked (green arrow in 1st pic). The engine still wants to surge as the rod from the pot on the carb goes on and off continuously.

I took the hose off the top of the VSV and attached it to the pot and the engine idled right up (green arrow in 2nd pic). That should say the pot is good and vacuum should be sufficient? I also used a test light to make sure the VSV was staying powered on and it is.

I also temporarily tested the vacuum ports with new hose with no change. I would assume my vacuum lines are ok then?

What else could be causing this? I’m assuming this engine is desmogged correctly. I’m having a hard time reading the guide.
