i have a 94 80 ac just stopped working no cool. I figured freon was low so i put in AC pro and the gage on the can reads zero pressure even after the can went in. The AC button is on. The idle goes up when I press the ac button, but i guess the compressor does not go on or engage. like there is no freon? The 10 amp fuse is fine. Is there a relay i am missing? Is there another electrical issue. The pully moves fine and no oil or stuff arrond compressor. How many cans can the system take? thanks

maybe but I think the compressor should have caused some pressure when I was putting the freon in? I think the compressor is not coming on. How do you tell if it is engaged.

Did it blow cold and then randomly one day just stopped working? If so, i would also agree with a hole. If you put a can of 134 in there and reads dead zero then i would assume its getting dumped out somewhere quick. Could be a hold in the condenser from a rock or something.

You can buy an a/c vacuum kit off amazon and pull vacuum on it. I used this one and it worked great:

Got some tips for you below:

-First thing to do before anything else is jump the a/c compressor to see if the clutch clicks/engages. You can buy a cheap probe that will do this. If the clutch clicks then your compressor most likely is good. If no clicking...you most likely have a failed compressor.
probe from amazon:

-next up i would try your pressure switch. this is a small little switch (usually right up against the fender in the engine bay behind the headlight) that will cut power to your compressor if the pressure is too low or too high. Once again, these can fail and cause the system to not turn on. You can jump these as well (With a paper clip or scrap wire) to ''bypass'' it and see if the compressor turns on. But I dont recommend leaving it this way as there will no longer be a safety net on your a/c system.

Honestly you could just take it to an a/c shop and pay them a few bucks to perform a leak down/vacuum test. They'll tell you right away if there is a leak and where its coming from.

as a final note, the system is clogged with a blockage. getting the system flushed monday and I hope it fixes it.
