Be gentle, this my first post to the forums and I’ve only had my ‘05 LC for 3 days!

My AC blows, and blows acceptably cold. I bought a DIY-recharger and it helped GR the back AC cold enough as well.

However, there is a LOUD *whooshing* or *wind blowing through trees* noise that cycles on/off the whole time. Can someone help out a total noob here? Thanks.
Crappy video of what it sounds like I’m the link —> LC100 Loud AC Cycles

Nobody? I guess I’m special, but not in the good way.

Just a guess, but I'd check the fan; you may have crap in the housing. It's under the glovebox.

I appreciate the input. Yeah, I already took that out. It had a few leaves and rocks, but unfortunately, it didn’t make a difference in this big *whooshing* sound like the whole system is going into maximum overdrive mode every 30 seconds. Thanks again.

I watched your video, its the blower fan likely causing that sound. The blower fan is the only moving mechanical part of your AC system inside the vehicle (the other one is the engine bay - compressor). Worst case scenario after ruling out the blower fan and that sound is still present, it’s possible there’s a blockage on the air ducts.

What is the condition of the brushes in the fan assembly?
Flawless.

it’s weird because It sounds like it’s cycling or ramping up and down. And it sounds normal when “ramped down.”

Our 04LX has them. You just need to install them.

May find something putting the AC into diag mode.
It’s on my very long list. I’ve read the write-up about retrofitting them.

Ok. First I’ve heard about diagnostic mode. Will look into that. Thanks!

For some reason, it won't go into diagnostic mode.

I had it off. Held down AUTO, R/F, and turned on vehicle, but no codes. : /

blower motor control relay. Especially if I could not control the fan speed manually.
if you're checking it it should be low voltage equals low speed- high should be 8+volts. Low maybe 2 something volts

I FINALLY got error codes to come up!

I got codes 21 & 47.

NOW, the questions are:
- What do they mean?
- What should I do about them?

they don't mean anything if you cant control the fan motor.
do some google searches.

Do you know if your evaporator core was replaced by the previous owner? I just had a new compressor and evaporator put in mine. I get the exact same cycling/whooshing noise you describe. I asked the AC place about it and he said yeah that’s what they do. Never noticed it before though. I’ve gotten used to it since and the ice cold air is worth it to me.
