The 4-Runner (1984 22r engine) I just bought still has the AC compressor installed, and the belt still running on it. The belt goes over 3 pullys: ac compressor, fan, and the "air pump". At least...I was told that is the air pump.
I know I don't have to have a belt on the ac compressor and don't really need the belt running on the fan since there are already 2 other belts on the fan if I remove this one.
What I'm questioning is that "air pump". Do I HAVE to have the belt running over that air pump, or can that just sit there without a belt on it?
