A343F transmission-low gear won’t work/no 1st gear (1 Viewer)

Hi all,
I have a 1996 FZJ80 with transmission (automatic) problems. All the gears are working with the exception of low gear. When you put it manually into low gear, the engine will rev but the car won’t move, like it’s in park. My mechanic thought the lock-up solenoid was bad and replaced it, but it didn’t fix the issue. The transmission solenoids are all good and there are no chunks of metal in the transmission. Any ideas on what the issue might be? I’m not sure if it’s an electrical issue or mechanical issue.

from inside the trans filter, it doesn't look good. There are bits of magnetic metal and a lot of clutch material
