Very few adapters were available that would do what you ask. And I do not believe any of them are being made any more. So, the quick answer is no..

Further to Maces comment, I know those factory trannys were reliant on signals from the 3FE engine for shifting control, so then I wonder (not an FJ62 expert) if the 3FE engine is reliant on signals from that tranny (as Vortec/4L60E's are) for it's operation???
We built (and operated for awhile) an adapter for 2F to 700R4. It had starter problems we could not overcome, a shifting problem we could have overcome, and a kickdown cable that would have to be adapted to your stock carb (ours was TBI, problem solved). We never brought this kit to market because of it's problems, and because it would not have fit into an FJ40.

Jim, the trans just gets throttle position from the 'kickdown cable' and that's it. All hydro, no electrons involved.

It'll work in a 40 one day ;)

If the "best" is your goal, you want a Toyota one from these guys:

Wholesale Automatic Transmissions

Available in the USA from:

West Coast Cruisers

I don't really understand why you would want to run a GM tranny and all of the mods and adapters it would take to get it fitted.

If you do a search, several ih8mud members are already running these rebuilds, including Euclid, who is the current rig of the month in the 60 section.

Lots of great mods to the tranny from Wholesale Automatics including 3rd gear lock up. Lots of info here on ih8mud if you search.

While I don't have the full Wholesale tranny that Drew points out, I have their Extreme valvebody in my original tranny. Considering how much I love that upgrade, I can only image the full tranny with the upgraded valvebody and upgraded torque convertor is the bees knees. (yes I said bees knees)
