did the A-TRAC switch mod , with the Toyota factory switch part # 84988-35060 and sure enough : it works
4 low and switch on ....lights up on the dash.

I was surprised too that it would work and how easy it was.
I'm glad I didn't get that option from the dealership when I bought my FJ, I saved a lot of money putting it in myself
