I picked up a radiator from a local seller who said it was from a ‘60 series diesel wagon. After a year in storage I finally looked at it. There isn’t a filler point on the rad. Is this a closed system and the rad is filled from the outflow bottle? What gives? Am I seriously missing something?

Both HJ60 and HJ61 had radiator filler caps.. it does not sound like a 60 series radiator.. Photo?
You got scammed. Make sure ,when you get a real radiator, get a, four row one.

The truck is a’73 fj40 but I pulled the entire drivetrain from an 82 bj60.
Regardless of what it is.. its well past its used by date. Certainly looks more 40 series than 60.

Oh well… bummer. It wasn’t cheap but I suppose I’ll chalk it up to a learning experience! Thanks for the input!

Any suggestions for a rad? I need the input and output on the same side (left side)
So this is going into an early FJ40? I would ask in the 40 series group.. any radiator that fits can be modded by any half competent radiator shop to put your outlets on the side you want them.. and dont forget the 3B thermostat housing can be rotated to point to the other side.

lefthand steering 1985 HJ60 has radiator outlet on right side, filler on left, also the new rad had a different size cap (when you order something beware of that)
