Greetings all! I'm actually an 80 guy.....don't hold it against me....but I'm currently deployed to Africa right now and drive around in nothing but 76/78/79 and 200 armored LC's. Just around the corner from where I am is a "salvage yard" full of 70 series of various makes and years. If any of you guys need any little parts that are not available to you to replace stuff you may be missing or have broken, feel free to PM me and I'll see if I can get it to you. Think small though. I already got someone a rear license plate cover/light. I have to lug this back on an airplane. I work 90/40's and come back stateside almost every time now for at least a few days.

You can get big stuff but I'm not sure of the shipping yet. I'm in the process of finding out what it's going to cost me to ship a new 76 back with a sub 30km 1-HZ that was rolled and another 1-HDT thrown in the back of it to put in my 80 so I'll report back. If you guys want anything like that we can make it happen. Right now I'm looking at around $4k for a 20ft container shipped to Houston. I could probably fit a few more motor/transmissions in there and a 40 footer isn't much more. The owner has connections to ship stuff out. According to him an engine/transmission will cost under $2k to get stateside. If it's reasonable, I'll be doing this in October if anyone wants to jump in. If anyone wants an armored up 76 body it's yours cheap.....I'm just taking the engine/drivetrain out. Understand that if you want anything it's going to take months to get it.

I'll be here for at least another 7-8 months before I transfer out. I'll help you guys if feasible just let me know!

I want to make a 70 series ute on 80 series chassis. I don't need any running gear, just body (front end mainly) and interior.
You mentioned rolled and armored, can you post up any pics?
Thanks for offering up some possible options.

Haven't been able to go by the shop recently. I will try and go by this weekend and also gain access to the salvage yard and get some pics. Ick I added you to my little spreadsheet for guys wanting parts. I'll PM you when I have some more info. The truck that was rolled actually has very little damage to it. The sheet metal is a bit ruffled but the armor maintained the integrity of the trucks shape. It's in pretty good shape actually. The UN just doesn't want to put any money into it.

U.S. Customs?

I need an engine sub-harness from a mid-late '90s HZJ75. I'm talking about the wiring harness that connects the engine components (IP, senders, starter, super glow system, etc) to the main cowl harness. If you think you can get this, please shoot me a PM/email.

Is this new? I dont recall any customs regulations that limited or tracked individual parts.

Since 1996 when FMVSS was passed. Otherwise, you could take a brand new HZJ79, disassemble it, bring it in as "parts", put it back together, toss in a 21+ year old 1HZ and circumvent DOT standards.

Is it not widely enforced? I have been doing JDM swapped cars since I was in high school (2002) and they bring over all sorts of engines/parts/etc. that aren't that old... front clips even. I have never heard of that being a rule, but that doesn't mean it isn't true!

There’s not a unit of cbp focused on this, no. But import newer, out-of-market, non DOT approved parts that are subject to FMVSS and put their real age on the paperwork and see where they end up.

There is no restriction on importing parts I need a 76 series body five speed gearbox if you can set me up with shipping and expediting the deal we can work out a finders fee if we can coordinate a contact over there That would be great

Parts that are subject to FMVSS must be 25+ years old or have DOT certification. Bumpers, lights, safety equipment, glass, mirrors, body panels, wheels and more.
