This last weekend I ended up going down to Truckhaven. We wheeled a little in the "twisties", the little canyons off of the main washes. Then we went up the Calcite Mine trail. After that we hung out and watched the real rock crawlers play for a while.

We tried to get some lunch at Super Burger but it was an hour wait. We all decided to take the crossover trail from Truckhaven to Ocotillo Wells to check out TDS. We toured the vendor area, had some cajun dogs and went to enjoy the campfire and some well earned beers:D

On the way home we took the Oriflame/Rodriquez truck trail up to Banner then back on the highway, through Julian and home. Only crossed paths with a couple other 80's.

Things went less than perfect while loading my truck but the weekend was perfect. Once I'd gotten home, I went down to Costco to do a little shopping. When I came out and loaded the groceries into the 4Skinner................Dead Battery:mad: So I got to walk home to get the LX to jump the 4Skinner.Holy Crap look what my browser did to my post! Sorry, I have no idea how to fix this!

I have no idea how to fix what my browser just did to my post. I am sorry:o

Woa, this just in... not good news.. from a reliable source.

"I have confirmation on all three.

Mario Santana of Scotty's Jeep was the driver and fatality.

The severed arm was a sand buggy passenger.

The severed finger was a SoCal Bronco driver that appeared to be bragging about the fact it was severed and re-attached at the Rancho Mirage hospital.

A couple of pictures have surfaced that show some yoyo creating a new trail through a tight notch. That type of picture is going to get the area closed once CBD gets their hands on it.

Motorized access in the area is supposed to be on existing trails. Having some dim-bulb post pictures of them CREATING new trails is a sure path to court ordered closure.

Same with the dim-bulbs that decide to burn their club sign into the ground.

The next go-around in court is going to be very difficult to defend recreation access to the area.

It is going to take a miracle to keep Truckhaven open now."

Hey Steve,

You just have to hit 'enter' after each picture to put them in a vertical line.
That should solve the extra wide post problem.
How were the Crossover and the Oriflame/Rodriquez trails? Challenging?

Pretty s***ty someone is showing off their "new" trails. Anybody bashed him yet? That could indeed cause problems for future events (if not permanent closures ).

Always sad when someone gets hurt, or worse, dies. Any idea if it was carelessness or just freak accidents?

Hey Steve,

How were the Crossover and the Oriflame/Rodriquez trails? Challenging?

The crossover trail from Truckhaven to Ocotillo wells is pretty mellow. From what I remember, you could make it in a 2WD without a problem. In the middle there is an area called the pumpkin patch. It is a field of round sandstone type rocks that are formed over thousands of years resemling, you guessed it, pumpkins.

The Oriflame is pretty easy except for a rock garden about 20-30 feet long. Here's a link that just so happens to contain a post by you. If nobody ever got back to you, it's about an hour long trail. Basically just one last nice distraction on the way home from the Borrego area. I'll probably mess up the directions but the trail runs from the S2 about 6 miles south of the 78 to about a hundred yards west of the Banner store on the 78https://forum.ih8mud.com/showthread.php?t=130863

Nice pics thanks for sharing Steve. Did that first gen 4skin make that climb? I love to see a 2nd or 3rd gen with a straight axle under it, a thing of beauty. I miss my Runner, ok I am rambling now.

Dave what is the deal with the fatality and severed arm you were talking about in post 3? I haven't heard a thing about TDS yet.

It's news everywhere man. Check Pirate, Jeep-l, etc.

It wasn't @TDS. It was at Truckhaven. I just want to make that clear. It sucks, cause people can't differentiate the difference between TDS and Truckhaven. Kind of like people calling the Rubicon Trail "sierra trek". So TDS gets looked at badly.

Will do.

Ha, you're right! The trail names didn't ring a bell, but yeah, I remember reading the reply. Thanks for posting.

No problem and actually that deceptive looking rig is a pickup. I thought it was a 4Runner when I saw it too. But no, he didn't make it nor did anything else in the time we were hanging out there. It had a crawler box as well.

The 4Runner I was with has a solid axle and is super flexi. The gold one.

I still have my 4Runner:flipoff2:

A few more pics possibly containing some shameless poser pics:D

Damn - the underside of that pink panty is way to clean! :flipoff2: Time for some mud or something. :D
