Gorgeous bumper, Will you be making something similar for the 60 series?

Thank you very much! I could make one for a 60 as I have a 60 series as well to build it off of. I would be more than happy to make you one. i have a few projects for people going on at the moment and it would be about 3-4 weeks at least before I could start. I don't know how soon your looking to get one? If you need something sooner there is user on here by the name reevesci who is a supporting vendor that makes quality bumpers as well. His business name is Trail Tailor. But if you can wait send me a private message so I have your info and I'll send you a message when I finish up the current builds.
And I will be getting back to the 80 build soon guys! I've been so busy the past month. and with another little one on the way I can use all the work and support I can get. Thank You for all those that have been so supportive on my FB page.

Thanks
Rich

Here's what's next for my build. Roof bars similar to this that will also be my roof rack platform

If you dig around enough on the site for Toyota Gibraltar Stockholdings( http://www.toyota-gib.com/eng/ ) you'll find a video of a 200-Series with an endo-exo cage. Basically it is a roll cage in the rear that bolts through the roof to make a rack. I really like the idea of making a more stout rack that ties into the frame or gives better load distribution through the body.

There has to be something better than mounting to the rain gutters...

I agree. I'll be tying into the body structure under the front fenders via the door mounts and a couple other spots before transitioning up to the roof. I was thinking about doing a 6 point cage inside starting behind the driver /pass seats and the other hoop behind the back seats with kickers to the wheel well areas. And then tie them into the roof bars. So yes a cage mounted to the body only.( I know there is lots of debate on that. ) after seeing another members truck pics after a rollover on the street and seeing his windshield fold to the front seats but the rest of the roof was intact from the front headrests back I think this would be more than adequate for my use. And would address or at least improve the obvious week front pillar. And look really good as well. Nice and clean. Similar to that pic

Thanks for the link also.

Yeah, I like that.

That style cage on an 80 would be rad.

Awesome work! Do you have any templates to share by any chance? Or was it mostly by eye?

Thanks as well. And welcome to the forum, I read your post. This is a bumper I now sell. So I don't currently offer templates. this bumper has kind of taking off on its own path... I started this thread as my first documented build thread after being on here for a few years. and after posting up the bumper it just kinda took off and has gotten a lot of great feedback from literally all over the world. It's crazy to me.... It's opened some doors and shed light on what I offer as a fabricator and craftsman. And has gotten me some good local work doing what I love. So I'm thankful for that and this site.
And actually the bumper is featured in this months issue of 4wd toyota owner magazine. I haven't seen or read it yet but it's out. I saw a pic on line. The only store near me that carries it hasn't gotten it in yet. The publisher David is a really nice guy and loves the 80 series. He saw my bumper and loved the design and features and had me send some pics and a description and said he'd put it in. So I guess it's in there. Lol.

Are you planning on a rear bumper or sliders?
Yes to both.
I'm in desperate need of a rear bumper. And as far as sliders go I just got a possible request for a pair so I may be figuring those out sooner than later. On my truck I'm cutting out the rockers and welding in rectangular tubing the full length. I have cancer to remove in that area. I did this on my last 4Runner and loved it. Higher clearance than sliders and looked really clean. I hope to get back to building my truck soon but I've been pretty busy, which is a good thing with another little one coming in October. Honestly though the rear bumper is probably going to take the longest. Just cause I want it to compliment the front and it's going to have some cool features as well.
On another note and I did not come up with this but found it on here. I'm going to be making air cylinder locker actuators for my truck as my elockers are spotty and I already have an ARB on board air set up. My cylinder wil be enclosed in a protective housing though. Has anyone else that has done this mod had any issues? Or found any cylinder to be a better choice than another?

Foremost, congrats on the little one!

My truck is open diff. I'm planning on air lockers when I gear for oversized tires.

I'm almost completely sold on the front bumper. It compliments the truck, and appears to have great function. Do you have any pics of what you mean with the sliders on the 4Runner? I'll be purchasing armor this fall.

Thanks for the comments and sorry for getting back to you so late. I never saw your request for pics of the sliders on my runner. I haven't posted on my build in a while because I've been pretty busy building for others the past couple months and haven't had any time to work on my truck. I'm in the middle of making 4 of my 80series bumpers now. Should be finishing those up soon and already have two others on order.
I couldn't find a pic of my old runner but here is a 2014 xterra I just did the same on a month ago. His are also air storage tanks. I'll be doing this to my 80 before the snow flies. Mine will be a little different though.

A closer look painted and sealed. Sorry guys for the non cruiser content! Just showing him an example of what I was referring too. These work out nice. You can put a highlight jack anywhere down the side without hitting the body. And I offers a step as well. And you don't loose clearance to gain protection. It was good for the xterra because the rockers on both sides where already hammered. And is perfect for my 80 cause one of my rockers has rust.

Also, due to requests I will be offering a heavy duty version of the bumper I made for my 80. Thanks and hope to be getting back on my truck soon and continuing the build. But it's nice to help others with theirs.
