A/C fan intermittent - relay or switch issue? (1 Viewer)

I have an FJ62. Recently had the AC system recharged and it was blowing cold for 1 week or so. Now when I start the truck, the fan doesnt come on immediately. Here are the different areas of troubleshooting that makes it work sometimes:
-if I cycle the air inlet switch 1 to 5 times, the fan will start
-fan switch at speed 1 or 2, the trick of moving the inlet switch doesn't seem to work
-cycling the blue AC switch doesn't seem to have an impact
-if set to outside air, and the fan is not running, the little air that does come through feels cold

Any suggestions?

It sounds like you’re experiencing a cabin fan issue. Not the AC system.
If the fan slider switch in the dash takes coaxing to get the fan work — that’s likely an issue with the slider switch.

Does the cabin fan work perfectly and reliably at all speeds when the AC button isn’t pressed?

The cabin fan function is independant of the AC button.
Occasionally it will start if I cycle the inlet air switch. That is the only cycling that seems to help.

Perhaps…
The fan motor is not spinning nicely and the current changes when sliding the fan slider on the dash “wake it up”. Maybe examine the blower motor.

Could be the Resistor. Still available (aftermarket OEM) and easy to replace. About $35

the fresh/recirculate is just a cable that flips a door open or closed, I don't think there is any power to it
