EPC lists THREE different AC Condenser applications for 81-87, depending on production years...

8/80 - 4/85
4/85 - 4/86
4/86 - 8/87

Anyone know the differences?

Anyone done the mod to make different years fit?

It's probably something with A/C lines fitting, but would like to know if anyone else has run into this problem... :)

Hi Spike,
I've got one manufacturer that lists one part # for all years of 60's. Denso, who built the originals, shows one for '84-4/85, and another from 4/86-'87. Weird how they don't cover '81-'83 or between 5/85 and 4/86. I need to compare these with my '82 to see if any of them match.
These line drawings suck, but you can get the general idea.
The first one is the one size fits all, the 2nd is for '84-4/85 and the 3rd is 4/86-'87. The angle of the inlet fitting looks to be the major difference.
Hope this helps and have a great weekend:cheers:

Howdy Rex,

Yeah, mine is a 5/85 -- I went to $OR and got a quick look at the different used OEMs ... And it seems like what you noticed, the angles of the inlet and outlet fittings, is the only difference. Now I don't know if that will prevent the stock lines from fitting or being too short, etc... And have no Idea why or what the reason for the changes was...

I was going to buy a new OEM, as I thought it was only $140, but I had the part # for the 4/85 and older unit. Mine is $220. Go figure... And as you found out, Denso aftermarket does not list a part.

Anyway, I ended up taking my condenser to a Radiator shop and having it cleaned and pressure tested. I get it back Tuesday and will post results...

Thanks much,

Alf
