well at the moment i only get to see my rig for 1 week every month, so i dont have the time to get it roadworthied but ive got the time to do some more work on it, this weeks work is all body work.

yeh this isnt very technical but someone without much experience might find it handy maybe.

first project is on my rocker panels.
i started by pulling out the old plugs left by the snake blinders and after sanding back around the holes and cleaning the area i bogged them up, once the bog dried i sanded the crap out of the whole panel. once the line i wanted was taped off i put 3 coats of primer down and a hell of alot of Septone stone chip guard down on top of it, tomorrow i'll paint over the previous grey paint with a few coats of black.

i also have the insides of my front fenders out for painting, the local auto store doesnt stock beige rattle cans:mad: so the engine bay side is still unpainted but i coated the wheel side with cheap black spray paint, this paint will get chipped reasonably easy but at $2.50 AUD a can who cares.

also painted my aussie bullbar black (i like black ok) and it looks so much better than it did when it was bare alloy, gotta love mots lights too.

also took anti rust coat to my bash plate which is looking rather thin after 23 years, the bottom paint will probably get ripped off quickly but the paint on the other side wont get touched and thats where all the water generally sits.

and ive got some more major stuff on the cards as well, my rig has factory flares which act like rust traps so they're coming off, i only run 10.5" wide tyres so i dont need them. gotta do this bit properly though, have to drill the rivets out that hold the brackets on then weld and bog up all the holes from the bolts, its going to be a fun job. but should be easy right, i might even look into a rear quarter chop at the same time.

this stuff is realy easy to do but i guess ill see how well i did the jobs in a few years time. ill post up more as my painting project progresses

Factory flares

I may be interested in buying your flares if shipping to US is not too much trouble. PM if any interest - Thanks.

I've been torn between selling he flares and not selling them for a while but ive decided to keep them
in case i want to put on wider tyres. oh and they're great if you want lots of rust.

knocked out all the supports that hold the flares on today found that my right rear door was a blood red colour,
started filling in holes with a marine putty that sets like rock and is water proof.
my rig looks better already. no photos until tuesday unfortunatly.
work continues though. maybe in a month i can have it on the road.
