I am contemplating mounting a 9kg gas bottle to my SWB 1990 70 series cruiser using a standard gas bottle mount (image below) but I just cannot figure out where, firstly it is possible (support etc) and secondly where it is legal (i.e. does not protrude out from the side to take out cyclists on the side of the road)

Any suggestions supported by photos/images welcome.

Perhaps make a mount that mimics to OE gas can carrier.

This one from Front Runner racks was made for a roof rack but could possibly be utilized elsewhere.

I think this will be the better option.

I would not cantilever that much weight that far back off the door if it will be used loaded on rough roads / offroad. Maybe time to think about a rear bumper with swing away tyre & gas can carriers, $$$$ if you don't build it yourself but your door hinges will thank you.

Cheers

Do you travel with the grill on the rack too?
Troopy Life - Would you possibly provide me with the distance measured from the floor
of your Troopy at the rear door but to the inside height of the roof of your Troopy.
Not the door opening height, the inside height, please. Thanks J

Hey mate, off the top of my head I'm pretty sure it's 1220mm can confirm tomorrow for you.

Yes I keep the bbq out there to avoid it stinking up the place, works well.
