I found a pretty good deal on a pair of LS400 seats in great condition to replace my worn LX seats. From a search on the site i found someone mentioning they may fit, and from looking at it and camparing the demensions they seems they will fit. but has anyone had this done or seen someone do this?

if not i may still get them for a DIY!

AWESOME! Do it up! LS400 seats are nice! Post pics when done.

HMM?

Go for it. Id be interested to see if this works as well. I used to have and LS and the seats are nice.

ill be picking up the seats tomorrow. DIY to follow.
Also, Will be taking the wood steering wheel off the LS to add to the LX

98 LS400's don't have the wood wheels. Only the 99-00 had them on that body style. I'm gonna look into your seat swap idea later when my LS comes back from the shop!

Subscribed.

Looking forward to seeing this!

I don't know... As a kid my mom had a 98 ls and it had a wood wheel and so does the one I'm taking the steering wheel out of.. Atleast the photos look like it's a wood steering wheel. Let's home for the best because my steering wheel is ripped to s***.

so the wheel swapped right in. No issues.
this is a 1/2  job. it wasnt even worth doing a DIY since several others have done this before and posted how-to threads.

Now the annoying part. I foolishly assumed i could just swap out the undersides of the LX and LS seats. This will be harder than imagined. Photos will explain, but i will get this done come hell or high water...

The LS seats also sit higher, but i think once i figure out how to swap out the guts of the seats this may be remedied.

more photos to come.

and this is a photo of the passenger LS seat. its wider than the LX seat by a few inches, but it still seems to be narrow enough to fit in the LX, just a matter of how.....

Will the air bag still deploy?

If its the same bag as before with just the wheel being swapped, then nothing changed in regards to the airbag.

That looks GOOD!

Pm me if you ever come across another wheel. My LS didn't come with it. Thx

Very important oversight!

same airbag. evrerything is plugged in. Should work.

I love the S600. Do any of the controls of the LS400 wood whel work in conjunction with the LX stereo?

its weird because there was an extra wire that was in the old steering wheel that wasnt used for anything, and it plugged into the right button controls in the new wheel. when i get my stock radio hooked up ill check it out! im kinda excited/ hoping it will work.

I concur, nice W140 and color. Makes me miss my W220.

Cut off both sets of mounts from the rails, fab up some brackets on the LS seats to relocate the LX seat mounts in the correct places. Otherwise I don't see it working out.

Thanks. Im a major fan of w140s myself. Ironically enough i like my S320 more than the S600.
Heres a photo i snapped of it when i took it out of storage for a day back home in california (i didnt move it with me to MI) and a couple more, one with the 600. As far as the seats go, im a little busy during the next few days, so ill be tackling this project on friday/saturday..wish me luck!
