Merry XMas all,

I have a 1998 75 series Troopy (1HZJ75). I need to replace the front seats. At the very least I have to replace the driver's seat.

What other LC models have seats that will fit a 75 series? Right-hand drive in case it matters.

The vehicle is currently in the USA, so I am hoping that, for example, 80-series seats, or something else available here, will fit.

Also, if anyone has a good source either near Seattle, or that ships, for either used seats or reasonably cheap new seats, that would be sweet.

Thanks,
Chris.

Nice to hear there is something that new ( bad seats and all ) in the U.S.

Chris,
Could you post some pictures of the seat and its attachment to the floor? I have not seen a lot of 75 series trucks and am not picturing how it mounts.

Thanks

PS Also congrats on the truck. It must be a very special find.

Well, most 70 series seats should work with the existing brackets, I have BJ70 seats on the brackets of my '97 Troopy. The hump for the front tank keep you from being able to use the sweet suspension ride seats.

60 series seats might work, but I don't have a set to look at. 80 series seats won't work either.

There is just no real drop-in solution for new seats in the 70 series

I might be wrong but these brackets look like one from toyota corolla . On another computer I have some picks , I will try to dig them out.

I put some Recaro seats into my Troopy, they have a bracket to suit it so that they just bolt in.

Can you post a link showing the mounting bracket used with the Recaros?

I'm using a set of seats out of a 1989ish Toyota Camry. I will be making custom mounts though, so that is not a direct bolt in.

Thanks for the photos Phrogg. Mine look exactly the same. I'll post photos next time i get near a real computer.

I did measure the bolt pattern. Both front and rear bolts are exactly 12 inches (317mm) apart (left to right). The front to rear distance is about 15 1/2 inches. I say "about" because the rear bolts are vertical and the front bolts are at an angle, so it is tough to measure center-to-center.

Measure the distance between the holes on the bracket where the seat bots to the bracket, and the distance between the brackets.

Then you can look for a seat with similar dimensions on the mounting points. I'm sure there are probably some newer Yota or universal seats that will work.

I saw on one of your other threads where you have a universal seat on the PS of your truck, can you get another one of those? Couldn't stand the 3/4 bench any more?:grinpimp:

Yeah, who made the bracket?
They are Recaro brackets, bought them new with the seats.

Recaros definately not for everyone though, they are pretty expensive new.

I have a bad back, so need the support they give on long trips.

I'll take some photos when I get a chance.

Cool, Recaro's website doesn't go into much detail on brackets and vehicle specificity. Any info you have on the brackets would be awesome. Which seats do you have?

Thanks man. Appreciate it:cheers:

Are they actually Recaro brackets or aftermarket? Part number or manufacturer if aftermarket?:grinpimp:

No problem.

They are Recaro brackets, bought new from the Recaro distributor along with the seats.

No part number on the invoice, just listed as 'Seat Base & Runners to suit Troop Carrier 78 Series'.

photos finally...

Ok, I finally got some photos... I am really slow.

Simon, if you could check to see if the dimensions match yours, that would be really great. I wonder if 75 and 78 series seats have the same mounting dimensions? They sure look the same. Did you get your recaro seats online or locally? If online, where? I could probably get the seats here in the states and then at worst get the brackets sent from Oz.

Cheers,
Chris.

I bought them from the local distributor, and had him fit them, not online.

I'm sure you could contact them by email or phone though, and have them send you over a set of brackets, if they are not available in the US.

If they can not help, I could get them for you, and send them over.

Are you replacing just the drivers seat, or both seats?

I'll check my seat mounting measurements later today.

But, I am sure they would make a bracket for the 75 series as well, if they are different, as there are a lot(!) of 75 series trucks down here.
