went and looked at the poor thing today. it's 70% put back together. head & cams look nice and clean after their trip to the machine shop. report was the head was warped and required some not insignificant attention, but no cracks.

old hg looked exactly like the others that failed on the forums...cyl 6, deformations at the triangular voids.

can't wait to get back on the road

You need to get some very specific details on what was done and the amount of resurfacing that was done. Toyota specifies the head must be replaced if it is out of spec by a very small amount. (It's in the archives.) A minor head resurface is OK (.010 IIRC) but you imply something more than a minor resurface.

he specifically said it was within spec and still had room if it happened again (hopefully more than 110K miles this time!!!)...mebbe my interpretation (hyperbole) of his description
