97 FJ80 LC Denso O2 sensor question (1 Viewer)

I am trying to determine IF the part number is printed/ stamped on the Denso o2
sensors I just received? or if there is a way to figure out part # from what is printed on the sensor, because it does not match the part number ordered.

Previously had P0135 and P0141.

Parts ordered:
Denso
234-4153 (downstream)
234-4157 (upstream)

I purchased 2 sensors, 234-4153 (downstream) and 234-4157 (upstream) for my 97 Toyota
Land Cruiser. I installed 234-4153 (downstream) and had a hard time with a seized nut on 234-4157 (upstream) and did not install. So I cleared the codes and ran the car to work, where I figured, I'd spend a little more time and replace 234-4157, to have 2 new sensors. CEL stayed off, with just one new sensor.

Installed the 2nd sensor and immediately CEL (P0135) came back on (P0141 stayed off).

The box shows the correct part number (234-4157) but I am not sure if it is the right part. It looks like
the old sensor, but I cannot find a part number on the actual sensor. Old sensors were different, one was a Denso (downstream) and one was a Bosch (upstream, I ended up putting it back on, and didn't grab the part #).

The sensor that seems to be not tripping any codes, has "Denso Assembled in USA" and "41790 01009" on the shaft, and "2571" on the flange.

On the sensor that came from the Denso 234-4157 box, it is printer "Denso Assembled in USA" and the only number is "41830 03S10". "2571" is printed on the flange.

Is this the right part? 234-4157?

According to Rock Auto, your part numbers are right.

You might try disconnecting the battery for a few minutes to reset the computer when you reinstall the better Denso front sensor. People here say the Bosch doesn't work well sometimes. Maybe your computer has stored some bad data from the Bosch, and now thinks it has gone south?

When you restart the truck it should high idle for a while as it learns.

Those are sensor heater codes, most likely a wiring or connection problem. Check resistance of the heaters at the sensor connection, then at the ECU connectors. The reading should be the same/close, if not, find the problem.

Being that the results very when you mess with the connectors at the sensors, the problem is likely in that area?

I am with you on the bosch parts. Haven't heard too many positive comments on them.

I'll get the denso in again, delete the code, and see where it is from there. Went tuna fishing for the weekend, so focus was elsewhere, I'll get back to it tonight after work.

And, Kevin, yeah, I was thinking it may be something in the wiring or connection.

My main question should have been, "do I have the right part?" I am assuming that I do, and its something in the wiring, but the actual part doesn't have anything printed/ stamped that confirms or denies the actual part number, that's where I was coming from asking the question about the labeling of the actual part.

Anyway, thank you so much for the help, and I'll update with progress as I go.

I don't have the part numbers handy, but I ordered both Denso oxygen sensors from Amazon and they cleared up by 0420 code, stopped by intermittent hesitation while accelerating, and now my truck purrs. Total for both sensors was $85, and I couldn't be happier.
