I was underneath the rig this evening looking for any seeps or leaks (none) but saw what looks like either a previous repair or melted wire casing on the blue wire that runs from the engine to the connectors for the crank position sensor. The position sensor looks clean and in good shape. The top side wire looks exposed and like it’s been really hot in the past. I lose where it goes once it ties into a loom near the oil filter. Is this a pretty easy replacement exercise?

Put tape on it and forget it. If you can't see bare wire, it's OK.

Looks like the original split type plastic loom cover crumbled away. As above, anything to cover it, plenty of options,
you could remove some of the old wrap, clean the wires a bit if oily (electronics cleaner), then wrap them with a high quality auto harness tape.
Lots of choices:

The Toyota tape appears to still be available: 82997-12010 (expensive)

There are a few different types of high quality Tesa Tape for auto harnesses, take your pick (best IME to buy direct from Waytek, not Fleabay or Amazon)
(apparent typo in the title "flag" resistant (? flame resistant):

Another video showing TESA wire harness tape being used:

I used TESA tape when I rewrapped the last 80 series engine harness I did, and it's held up well for the past three years, that I know of. If I had known of the Yazaki tape at the time, I'd have used that for sure. Kudos to @Kernal, once again.

FWIW, the good folks at ASR (my favorite screwdriver salesmen, look it up) have the NLA Toyota tape for sale:

Unless you're building harnesses, I'd think this would last a lifetime of repairs on your personal truck.

Wait,.. $25 for a roll of electrical tape? You guys are hard-core! 😎
