I have been cleaning and fixing things on a 1996 80s series landcruiser and was hoping for assistance on identifying a strange wire. There is a red wire that was hooked up to the positive terminal of the battery. I traced it to being spliced into a black wire with a white stripe over near the washer fluid reservoir. I was led to believe generally a black wire with a white line was a grounding wire but that may not be the case. I'm still learning a lot about this car, but was wondering if anyone could let me know if that this wire might possibly be for. I have included pictures. Please let me know if you need any further info and I will be happy to provide it.

Is that connecting to the B-W wire of the ED1 connector? If so, wiring it to BATT+ will keep the A/C clutch always engaged.

And if that's the case you'll want to undo that quick (you can test by touching that to the positive terminal with engine off and listing for the click.
Also, ground on these is typically black on white, rather than white on black

I'll give that a test when I get home from work tonight.

So I tried touching it to the positive terminal with the engine off and did not hear any clicking of any sort.

Does your A/C work? Can you see the A/C clutch cycle on and off when the A/C is on?

My only other guess at this point is it is rigged up to the oil pressure sending unit or something along those lines. I wonder if just replacing the oil pressure switch wire harness (82221-60020) would allow be to just pull this wire

The oil pressure switch has a ground wire (BR), and a signal wire (W), neither of which would you connect to battery positive.

It is hard to tell what that wire is connected to, but it sure looks like the A/C Clutch wire ( B-W).

Dude thank you for all your help with this and all these schematics! Really can't thank you and everyone else on here enough. I'll keep digging tomorrow when I have light and see what I can figure out.

Hard to tell in the picture, but looks like the wire is in a separate loom that was added by a PO, my suggestion would be to trace the wire back and see where it goes.
