So I just got tired of taping up this column covers ( clamshells ) that keeps on falling apart. Couldn't even source a same year part in good condition. So I decided to get a different year part and will try to fit it. I found a 95 and is in really perfect condition I also noticed that they're more thicker compared to the 94. Here's the modification.

The one on left is the 94 and on the right is the modified 95. I did make the holes the same in size coz the 95 has a smaller hole. I used a swiss pocket knife to scrape it and make it bigger.

This is the bottom clamshell again the round opening in 95 is smaller and has corners on it so did scrape that ,and you see in pic they're almost the same now .

This time I have to make a rectangular cut on it for the cruise control lever. I don't know where the cruise control lever for the 95 is but who knows it might not have it ,but I might be wrong.

Installed it and my signal lever has enough room to move same on the cruise control lever.Painted it. It fits perfectly. I hope it helps anyone planning to fix there annoying broken clamshells . Thanks.

Bingo, I did the same thing a few years back and even added epoxy, JB Weld, to the bases of the plastic pillars to prevent future cracks. You DO NOT have to open up the hole for the steering wheel, but if you don't you will get squeeks every so often when you turn... (I need to open mine up for clearance the next time I remove it and get rid of that squeek/rubbing sound which is annoying when it's cold.) That is probly the one dimension that I didn't compare the new vs. old when I replaced it, nice pics!

In my case a Landcruiser used parts supplier shipped me the wrong part, parts, and will never use them again... But it is interesting to know that the '95 and up plastic is thicker.

I got tired of taping mine too. After a couple years of dealing with it I finally broke down and bought a new one. I have a 94 and I believe it cost me less than 90 bucks. I just ordered in the past year from the dealership.
