Unless I'm missing something is this design that stupid you have to remove half the front end to remove the rad (Grill, headlights etc)

Yes, yes it is. I have done it without taking them off, but it's easier if you do.

Yes sadly poor design after thought I'm sure from Toyota because of two bolts on either side the lights grill as to be removed. Although frustration only having to do it once helps.

Have done a bunch of them, only remove the grill. Depending on the tool collection available, pretty easy deal.

Might (might not) help to pull the corner light and then pull out /loosen headlight. I did. Just enough to clear a 1/4" extended flexi socket. One side just snuck in without that. It's just a handfull of small screws.

It is a little PITA, the first time, but once you get it out, with just simple tools it's not that bad, Oh buy some PB blaster and spray all of the bolts before you begin

May be beginners luck and ignorance, but I was able to get to the two bolts in the grille with a socket on a wobble, no big deal. Might have been 1/4 inch drive.

I'm doing this in a couple days. It's not too bad, and I'm thinking of taking the headlamps out anyway just to clean a quarter million miles of interior fogging/dust. Probably losing 10% of my lumens......

You can do it with the grill in place but it really sucks. The grill and rad support are easy to remove. I would definitely recommend spending an extra 30 minutes pulling the grill. It will save you hours.

I must’ve done mine wrong. Just take off the grill and get inventive with some extension and angle combos. No need to take anything else off.

I forgot, taking the battery and battery tray out made it a lot easier. But that’s it.

You can definitely do it with everything in place.
