Hi guys,

So I have an exhaust leak or crack in the exhaust manifold according to the Toyota tech I took my '91 tlc to last weekend. I know my cats are shot and that is next on the list (at some point).

However, I've read a few threads now and it seems like replacing the manifolds is a nightmare time and $$$ wise and I'm not sure if it would be better to have a shop identify and attempt to repair the crack (weld?) first instead of wrestling with busted bolts and 22 years of metal fatigue?

I've already ordered a set of used exhaust manifolds from Cruiseryard for $100 so I'm not worried too much about those if it's better to repair first...

Also thinking about the EMS exhaust, even though it stretches my 'budget' to an extreme, I'd rather be done with the entire header-back that way so I know there are no old parts to rot down the road.

As for those of you in DFW, how are some of you with exhaust leaks passing inspection? My bad luck is it's an out of state truck, so I have to get it to pass before I can even register it! Yeah...

Sorry to hear about your manifold, but it sounds like you've got a good replacement in order.

We're here to answer any questions you may have about your future header back exhaust system if you decide you'd like one. Those systems are on sale right now so hopefully that helps unstretch your budget a bit.

LOL like a good saleman you're always there! (Statefarm theme!) All in good fun.

Well I'm glad to hear the FJ80 3F-E version is on sale, I'll head on over to your site and see how long the sale will last. Already pushing the budgetary limits this month. Too bad I don't have the power to print money like the government when I hit the ceiling. :D

Edit: Isn't $790 the regular price for the FJ80? I see the FZJ system is on sale from $990 to 792, but that's not really applicable to my situation.

BTW, any one have any recommendations on where to source the exhaust manifold gaskets? I saw those Felpro (?) and Ishino ones for $~30-40 but don't know which retailer I can trust... I take it either of those brands should work?

Edit: How about this set? I am pretty sure most of the gaskets need replacing at some point given the amount of dirt and oil everywhere.
Whole set:

You're right. I'm very sorry, I didn't realize at the beginning that you're on an FJ platform, not an FZJ.

The FJ exhaust systems are not currently on sale unfortunately.

EMS should have a 48 hour sale on the FJ80 exhaust - half off. I'd drive to ATX to pick one up...

Sampak can you get a Toyota branded gasket from CDan?

That sale would be awesome. ;)

And thanks, I guess I didn't think about that. I will contact CDan for some gaskets.

Make it happen Ben. Make it happen
