Anyone knows the thickness of the Toyota steel rim for the 8series?
I am looking for the 16x8, what's the part numnber of it? Is it this one? 42601-60361 (old number was 42601-60360-03)

https://forum.ih8mud.com/tires-wheels/543765-1-fzj80-oem-steel-rim.html

I got some Nissan Patrol steel rims (5mm thick) in Nicaragua and they broke already after 8000km! They were too weak for our heavy HZJ75! I need the strongest steel rim money can buy!

I got 285/75R16 tires, so would like to keep the 16x8 dimension, not sure if the 6 or 7" would be ok though? I know the old 6 series and 7series had super strong 16x6" rims (8.5mm thick)

Would be great if someone could measure that for me ASAP! I am stuck here in Panama and going to check out some junkyards tomorrow, but I guess I might have to order them new!?

thanks

Michel

Howdy! Most of the USA models came with forged aluminum wheels. They are very thick and stout. They are DOT_T rated, which means they are strong enough for a small truck. Don't know of anyone that has worn one out yet. John

I've got a set of those rims. Not sure of the thickness of the steel, but my guess is if they'll serve for the 80 series, they should do just fine with a 70 series, even if heavily loaded. I could measure the lip or the thickness at the handhold openings?

They are 8mm, I just checked the ones I have in my shed.

perfect, thank you very much!! I will try to get those, somehow... my shipping date is hunting me, we need to get out of Panama to get to Colombia (car visa is expiring soon), so I need to hurry up.
Don't knw if they have 8series in Colombia, but do know, they got lots of Toyota's here in Panama AND I could order stuff from the USA pretty fast and cheap.

The Stealership here I don't even ask! They want 140$ for a brake cylinder (that costs 30$) and 65$ for the diesel filter, so I don't even bother to ask for the rims!

Alloy I will never install again EXCEPT I could install the Alcoa billet rims, but those only fit the HZJ78/79 (5 lugs)! Those really can handle the force, every other cast rim will not hold. I broke TWO Mickey Thomson Classic 2 rims, specified at 3100lbs! They SHOULD never have broken, I don't have that much weight, but they are cast! The guy at a big 4x4 shop in Nicaragua told me that he saw a few broken Toyota alloy rims due to small air bubbles.
Anyway, I got too much weight and the roads here are too bad, I need something like this 8series steel rim, 8mm will do it!

Thanks guys!!!

Michel

oh and do you know by chance the ET/backspacing of this rim? I found an info on the internet about ET0...

they are 0 offset, or 4" backspacing.
