Brake booster and master cylinder need to be replaced but not something I can afford right now. Was thinking about replacing with a manual master cylinder, circumventing the need for a booster....is this even possible? Let me know your thoughts. Thanks.

It can be done, but you'll spend a bunch of effort doing it. The current m/c's bore size is spec'd with the booster in mind. You'll have to change a lot of things to get to a viable unboosted system.
