Recently chasing some other issues, I noticed that the AFM resistance isn't checking right. checking infinity from e2-tha. The other resistances are in spec. So I went over to a friend's who has the same vehicle, and his also checking infinity from E2-tha. His is running fine. How significant is it?
I found on another thread a couple of options - one is an outfit that rebuilds them - Bavarian Restorations - cost $365, I also saw a reference on this forum to the 1993 Camry AFM, which looks to be the same, and can be bought from rockauto (aftermarket) for $90-$120.
thoughts from the brain trust? repair, replace, or just ignore?

Oh this is a fun one! I ended up going back to the Camry AFM that I pulled from a junkyard car, after trying both a rebuilt one that matched the original PN, and my original AFM as it came with the rig. I just passed smog with the Camry AFM installed earlier in the week. Tested the Camry AFM using the LC test procedure, and all of the items are in the same specs as above. Looks like E2-THA shows resistance on the circuit when the temperature is at a certain level, which probably impacts the air / fuel mixture.

I also tested my original AFM on the bench, and all lines are in spec except E1-FC, which should read infinity when the measuring plate is shut all the way. The spring on mine is a little worn out, so it sits slightly open at rest, which generates a signal between E1-FC that shouldn't be there.

For what it's worth, when I ran both my original AFM and the rebuilt one from Rockauto, the truck smelled kind of bad and the exhaust was sort of rich. My plugs are a little fouled, so that could have been part of the problem. However, going back to the Camry one got rid of the smell and I ended up passing smog.

Here's the PN for the Camry AFM. HTH.

Looks like that part number is NLA, but some used ones are on fleabay...
Also, there may be a member that rebuilds? Below was posted in the 80 section
