88 62 and IPF Headlight Harness M002

Hi Folks

Prepping to upgrade the headlight harness on my 88 62.

I’ve got the harness and the instructions, seems pretty easy except for one part. Under the special instructions, part C talks about reconfiguring the wires in the “mating face” of one of the plugs.

I’m confused because the instructions seem to indicate that the plug to be reconfigured is a “female” plug but the wire colors match the “male” plug not the female. The female has diff wire colors.

Anyone done this that can help clarify which plug needs to be reworked? Is this actually needed because I can’t find any mention of it in the threads I’ve found by searching the archives.

Yes it is necessary.
I had already re-pinned my my truck's harness when when converting to a 60 front clip which accomplishes the same thing, so I omitted that step when installing the IPF harness.

BUT,

Based on how mine worked and my take on those instructions...
Diagram 2 & 3 are the the same plug(the top one in your picture)
Diagram 2 is only there to show you how to release the pins.
Diagram 3 is the "after"
