My radio bezel like most was hacked for a radio install in the past. It was done very poorly with uneven cuts and jagged edges. I'd like to clean up the hack job to make it look as good as possible. Any recommendations on how to trim plastic in a clean way? Thanks in advance for the tips!

Are you asking about the 4Runner? If so, you can get a replacement and just go from there. It's all modular. Depending on what you need should be fairly easy. Maybe post a pic of what you're working with.

I know exactly what he is talking about. Back in the day aftermarket radios were too wide for the bezel. The solution was to "notch" the sides to fit. BTDT. Newer radios are not as wide and fit the bezel. Fortunately, when I installed my 2nd stereo I was able to still get the bezel from Toyota. Those days are long gone.

That said, good luck finding one that isn't chopped. You might try a flat file.

I can CAREFULLY shave the plastic when I need to with a razor knife/box cutter. Dangerous if you're not careful. My aluminum cutters for my die grinder (coarse teeth) work well but you have to watch the speed. Too fast and it melts instead of grinds. Also sanding rolls. A hot knife can re-smooth and even repair some sections. Like plastic soldering/welding.

You can usually clean them up if you have to but, Finding a better part is definitely easier.

Single or double DIN ?

Hey Matt. All 1st gen 4Runners have double din openings.

i thought so ,

i have a notable amount of NOS these if they can help here ?

.

This is my current Pet Project for GHOST ….

She is a full size double DIN as well …

The top face plate is taller and wider a tad ? I will be planing them down to match a conventional USA Spec one …

The little trap door flip downs has a maze of hole patters on. Each side

I can say for FACT this flip box will
direct bolt to any first gen. Double
DIN opening , all both sides DINS brackets and key tabs in its top to
The OEM FULL SIZE singie DIN
as well ….

I have only seen it once , a CB40M and
This were filling the double
DIN hole

box was on top

I'm pretty sure that radio untrimmed would fit behind the factory bezel. A lot of aftermarket guys just cut the bezel to install the slide in mount.
