I just buttoned up a project with some Healthineer folks. It's nice to work 'over the fence' sometimes. :)
Nice, I'll be in Erlangen and Kemnath from 17-28th February for my 1st quarter visit. Next time I'm over I should plan a trip to Munchen. Are you working in the Perlach site?

File Under: You're Killin' Me Smalls!
Please just pick up anchor and start sailing to Bremerhaven with my 60 onboard!

Also just a /flex bump with the newly minted 'Builds' thread, thanks to @yotadude520

So, a couple of more bits showed up. These I picked up from Cruiserworld. As you'll notice, the front tow hook is yellow. I was pretty shocked when I opened the box and saw that color. I checked the website since I never remembered seeing a picture with a yellow hook. I was right, in the picture of the product, the hook is black, but in the description when you put it in your shopping cart it says it's a yellow hook. I completely missed that part. So, there's no way I'm sticking that on the front of my 60 (unless I was Swedish and wanted the truck to have a patriotic flare) but I'm not averse to making lemonade and using it for the back, which if I remember from a picture I saw years ago, is tucked under the rear bumper? I've poked around this forum and the Interwebz looking for confirmation. Does anyone know if I can simply repurpose this hook in the rear? I do have a trailer hitch but nothing attached to it.

Yes, same bolt spacing. In fact, it looks like a rear hook more than the front type.

She's made it across. Getting close now. Next stop Rotterdam. And in File Under: Amazing Coincidences - A guy I've been online gaming with for 15 years and knows about the Betty saga, asked what ship she was on. I told him and he then realized he's tracking the same ship since he works for Caterpillar and one of their engines is onboard being delivered to Germany. What are the odds?

Betty Blue has finally arrived in Germany! :)

Here is a pretty extensive video (in German). I'll translate the main points. He's hearing an odd sound and based on his camera focus, he thinks it's the alternator? Do I hear a slight clicking (thoughts)? What are thoughts on overall 'engine sound'? Also, pointed out it looks like the brake cylinder is leaking? He also, incorrectly thinks the chrome wheels are aftermarket and the 31" tires aren't a stock option, even though he asked about them before shipping and OK'd them. So, that's odd. He also pointed out some very obvious, ahem, shortcomings by the person who did the rebuild (I won't translate the exact wording but someone was thrown under the bus.). Dieter was part of a WhatsApp group chat (not Signal!) and so was able to follow along with the build process up until shipping. @CenTXFJ60 , Jimmy, you got a "sehr gut eingebaut" (4 stars. Woot. :)) for the headliner! And, as y'all can see, he pointed out a lot of issues that will need to be fixed before she can be submitted to get approval for TUV 'oldtimer' classification. But, at least she's finally here. :)

Sounds like a normal 2F engine to me…. Zee Germans haven’t heard those sounds since the air cooled VW days so you might need to give him a reintroduction into the sounds of an inline 6 push rod engine sextet.

Super stoked for you that it’s there in one piece!

Dang that has to be a stressful inspection to go through. Makes getting a truck inspected here in Central TX seem so easy. Actually, getting antique plates requires no inspection. Hopefully you can sort out the negative check marks rather quickly. Truck looks awesome and glad Dieter thought the headliner work was ok. Curious if they would actually fail the truck if the headliner was in disrepair.

@zeeklafreek sounds like a normal 2F with the choke knob pulled all the way out and maybe some valves that need a little tweak. I don’t here anything out of the ordinary.

The confusion on the wheels might be because in Europe and elsewhere some 70 Series trucks had almost the exact same wheels in 16”. They’re difficult to tell apart without a tape measure. But yours are most certainly original. FWIW I think 29” was the stock tire size in the US.

I’m sure you wanted this thing to ace the test when it landed, but it’s ok that it didn’t - your so much closer to the goal now. Just a few tweaks and you’re good.

Yeah, they seem to be pretty much sticklers on the 'optics' so, as it was, before you worked your magic, I think Dieter would have had to do some work on it. It doesn't have to be completely showroom, but it seems they don;t give too much wiggle room. So, those few interior/door card issues will have to be addressed.

Yeah, I figured there would need to be some work done on this side but yes, getting closer all the time, lol. Thanks for chiming in on the motor, wheels and tires. I sorta knew 29" were stock but there is also an 'old timer' TUV stipulation that if the car in question already had the 'upgrade' when I purchased it, it might be deemed acceptable. And Danny, Dieter and I discussed it at length in chat 6 months ago and at that time Dieter gave to OK, so I'm not sure why it's cropping up now as a possible red flag.

lol, yes it's entirely possible that he's never heard a 2FE engine. :)
