Going through my first ever tune-up. Have all the FSM that I believe apply to this truck, but I cannot find any information on changing the fuel filter. I have a OEM filter sitting in my lap and just spend 45 mins going through all the books twice and over an hour searching here.

There has to be a process, right? Priming, dissembling...etc. Can anyone give me a quick rundown for a low-skill mechanic that really wants to do this right?

Thanks in advance and if you are ever in Salem Oregon, I'll fill up the cooler with ice and beers are on me.

It is very easy..

Pull the clip back on the hose .. pull the old one out.. and replace it..make sure you got a good seal with no leaks... I would wear gloves and have a towel handle under it. It is on the passenger side fender.

Start it up and you are good.. check for leaks and slide in back in the holder.

That was far too easy. Took me all of six minutes. Thanks for the info. I thought for sure there had to be some small procedure that I was going to miss.

The old one was definitely clogged. Tipped it sideways and all kinds of junk came out. I suppose that means I better investigate the system going backwards - maybe drain and flush the gas tank/line??

Thanks again. I was so happy I just drank another cold Pacifico, that over course tasted a bit like the gasoline on my hands.....

cheers,MJ

Old tanks nearly always have crap in them. Easier just to replace the fuel filter often. They are cheap - and as you now know, easy to replace!
