8274 Winch Mount

I purchased a Warn 8274 for my FJ40. When I bought the FJ40 it came with a "Hell for stout" bumper that Cool Cruiser sells, mine is not the winch model. So...I looked at their winch mounted bumper and decided I could make mine work. I have a laser engraver so I used Corel Draw and drew out the winch mount plate and then cut it out of 1/4" wood. (My laser will not cut metal). I also designed a bolt on brace to beef up the mounting of the bumper to the frame. Now all I have to do is take the file down to the local high school and get them to cut it out of 1/4" steel with their CNC plasma cutter. I will also get them to cut out the opening in the bumper.

Neat! I had to go look at their website to see what you are doing but this looks like an easy mod.

Finished up the mount today, have it all working. I am happy with the way it came out. I put some red anodized aluminum behind the FJ40 cut out to give it some color.

Where did the brackets go?

Brackets are inside of the frame to front bumper
