Hi,
I’ve had this 80 series for the last 20,000 km and it’s been a dream with barely no big drama although like most others it leaks oil. It doesn’t bother me too much but recently I’ve noticed the oil level light comes on everynow and then at cold start then disappears (could be the sensor, or that i just did not top it up too recently). What would these pictures tell you regarding the leak location? I recently water pressured the bottom so thats new ish oil. It looks like fresh oil is all around the oil pan, not really leaking around the tranny or on top of the sway bar area (as per pic its quite dry) which it did before I fixed RMS and valve cover gasket.

Thanks for your insight

IMHO, your source appears too far forward along the engine to be the upper arch seal (though that too may leak). I would clean it best I could and watch for where it re-appears. If you were more impatient than that, I might go ahead and re-seal the lower oil pan. Our really messy leak was the oil pump cover up front.
