I can't say for sure as I haven't tried it, but I am pretty sure the 15 in wheel on your 96 won't clear the brake calipers if I remember reading correctly.

I just picked up a set of 91 wheels and tires thinking they would fit on my 96 but apparently not. Can anyone confirm this for as well
I beleive the larger Disc rotors from 93-97 is the reason they may not fit
That is where I’m seeing the problem too. Thanks for your feedback.

Looks like someone beat me to it. :)

Yeah that is correct they won’t fit, unless you get spacers which I wouldn’t recommend. FJZ80 93-97 16” rims will fit on 91-92 FJ80s, but 91-92 FJ80 OEM 15” rims will not fit on 93-97 FJZ80s.

Agreeing with the general views that many have said here.

Staying with the OEM 16x8xET0 wheels has you covered - no reason at all to change - if you have no plans for large tires beyond LT285/75/16.
The OEM wheels are high quality units, and there seem to be many 16" choices available in sizes 285 & smaller.

BUT...if you move to bigger tires LT315 / 35 / 37 - Then the choices available in 16" are very limited now, and from now onward...
There are more choices available in LT315/70R17 - so large tires are the motivation to upgrade wheels to 17".
