Nice. I've already had to resort to carrying a chunk of wood to hold the hood open, this is much better.
 
Since I had the hood Rhinolined it is just to heavy for the worn out struts.

See, this is what happens when a vehicle gets too fancy..... clearly time to move back to a 60 series....;)
 
Why not just buy new struts from Advance Auto? They're cheap when you use 30% off coupons online and pickup in store... I've done this "mod" to a few 80's.

My hood is covered with Rhinoliner which make it heavier, I will replace struts also

I've had that too. On Frankendigger. The new struts will hold it.

I sourced a 60 series hood prop, ordered grommet and clip and it fits perfect. It was literally a 1 minute install. No more broomstick!
