Happened upon on 80 front axle for a really good deal so I grabbed it, but the spring perches (just the round piece the spring sits on) were cut off. Looking to see if anyone has an old axle that’s headed for the trash that might be willing to cut the perches off for me? Let me know if you have something and we can work it out. Thanks.

I have axles I can cut. If it makes $ since. Send me dm we can discuss it

Where are you at in OR? I'm near Boise. I have an axle that has a bend to it. I could cut the knuckle balls off and you could cut it any way you wanted. Cutting the perches off is pretty labor intensive, so it probably wouldn't be worth my time to do it. You might also check ruffstuffspecialties as they sell a generic coil perch.

btw, 80's had coil springs not leaf springs.
Good point, But I wonder what they would be called ? Lower spring supports? I know you used to be able to get the uppers from the dealer they called them spring sub supports .

Uppers still out there as of a week ago from Toyota. $$$

To be a little more clear, this is the piece I’m looking for. Front axle, sits on top and locates the spring. It may be more of a pain/cost to remove than trying to source something else, but thought I’d put it out there.

We got what your talking about . Matzell was correct normally spring perch's are for leafs. Got me wondering what that would be called. Maybe a spring saddle? Your prob best to find a old bent housing and cut it off yourself

That is a good deal and you wouldn't be battling old paint.

Those actually look like the best thing I’ve seen. I didn’t look a lot yet, but were you able to determine if they are the correct diameter for the spring to seat correctly?
I did not, as I was going to use TJ or JK springs. I think 80 springs would be a little stiff on a 40. You could good search spring diameters and compare between the two? Jeep springs are cheap. I figured, buy a set and see what the height was and go from there. If you are putting this back under an 80 then you will need to get the correct size.

Hope that helps.
