I purposely didn't post this in the 80 Section b/c people would tell me to search - I have, and I am looking for some different opinions.

IH8LEATHER and IH8the80'sSeats (plus mine are shot).

I was all set on getting some Corbeau Moab seats; then the lack of an adjustable headrest, no armrest option, and no height adjustment got me bothered. The price is right, but not sure if it's worth it with the shortcomings.

The Corbeau Sport seats look fantastic, but w/o the armrest option. However, tan or beige is a "custom" color that adds over $400 per seat. Uh, no thanks.

So that leaves me......... nowhere. I need to source some decent tan or beige cloth seats that are less than $300/seat. I've not had any luck finding any locally - I'd love some from a Highlander or Sequoia. Basically anything comfortable, cloth, adjustable headrest and height, and an armrest would be fine (manual controls are preferred).

You guys have any suggestions?

have you looked at jackson auto salvage? go to the carlot and start seating in differnt rides until you find something you like. then have the auto salvage post it on the locator, you might get lucky. we can make a bracket/base that will give you the height you want.

Don't know about Highlander or Sequoia, but I like the cloth, sport seats from the Hilux and 4Runners. I don't know if newer ones have height adjustment, but the ones in my 89 were manually adjustable (base tilt, lumbar, side bolster, etc.) and seemed more comfortable than the 80.

I know you don't want to hear it, but why not try replacing the foam in your driver seat and recover both fronts with cloth? Does Atlas sell cloth kits?

Why not recover with new leather?

IH8LEATHER

I also PM'd you about doing inserts in cloth or something other than leather, and never got a response.

Clint, I loved the seats in my '94 Mini, they were perfect - even Susana loved them. They would be ideal, but at this point I suspect finding tan ones in good condition will be quite tough.

Eric, not sure if Jackson is the one off Poole Rd, but last time I went there they only let me look at the junk, not all the nice newer model cars and trucks they have (if this is the same place). LKQ only has older vehicles and usually the seats are mucked up.

I don't want t recover the 80's seats b/c the bottom cushion is too short IMHO, I want something a bit longer w/ better thigh support.

O, and IH8LEATHER.:p

jackson is off poole road, lkq sucks for the most part. find a stlye then start calling around to different yards some old supra or celica gt seats might work well for you.

Have you looked at Recaro Seats, I know when I bought my first 62 the guy that had it had a set of them in the front and they were direct replacements but had more of a sportscar feel. May want to check those out:

.: RECARO :.

good luck.

Recaro's would be nice, but I don't have that kind of coin for them. Been trying to find used ones, o and tan isn't a popular color for them either. :frown:

Eric what is the deal w/ Jackson? Last time I was out there, they would not let me look at any of the newer models near the front.

Jacksons is where I picked up a nice set of tan leather Vovlo seats, out of a 95 I belive. I put them in a 40 with minor alterations to the original seat frame. I think I paid $75 for both seats with the heater switches, and the seats have air bags in the side lumbar support. Check that as an option. Volvo only have 3 different colors on the leather interiors, tan, Black, and navy.

don't know,. those might have been waiting, pending settlement from insurance or something. try again, maybe you happened to catch them on a bad day.

How about finding some cloth 80 seats, you can get them in tan, if you can find some in a junkyard they may be pretty cheap. I looked at a few 80's with cloth interior and Toyotas cloth holds up very well so you should be able to find a some good shape.

Any upholstery shops near you? Ask them to rebuild the foam and recover them with new cloth.....wont be any more than new aftermarket or the time/effort in installing another vehicle's seats, and you'd be surprised what new foam makes these seats feel like.
