They should be metal with a rubber boot. No they are not interchangeable.

Within the same model year the sensors are interchangeable side to side for the front.

The rears are different side to side on my rear axels.

are the front calipers the same as the rear ? sorry im new to land cruisers. if so im interested. or would they work on a 4runner solid axle front? better question what is the part number so i can find out!
