Not really tech, but went part shopping at the local dealership and parked next to a 200 and snapped some cell phone pics of my stock 80 next to the 200. I still prefer the boxy style of the 80, but if money wasn't an issue, I'd sure like to drive a 200...pretty sweet. The owner of the 200 had apparently dinged up the front bumper already.

80 Series the real Land Cruiser next to V8 Highlander:flipoff2:

Poor thing. Dinged up his front bumper already... :princess:

i agree, minivan all the way...

im not a huge fan...

The tailgate lights need to be covered and the chrome strip needs to be body colored.

I believe it still IS a real LC...

Unless it was caught taking performance enhancing drugs during the 80 vs. 100 shootout in 4 Wheeldrive Owners Magazine; then stripped of it's Land Cruiserness

Was. They don't make them any longer.

The 4WD comparo was biased, had errors in it, and was obviously written with an agenda. The adjectives and adverbs give it away. Nice try though as it's far from gospel.

IS who cares if they don't still make it. It still IS a land cruiser.

Example:

Son to dad: "Gee dad, is that a Land Cruiser?"

Dad to son: "Ha ha, No Billy, that WAS a Land Cruiser"

Son to dad: "aww thanks dad!" (que leave it to beaver music)

It's still Land Cruiser...it IS still great. Until the last one is gone, you can still speak of it as present tense.

As for the 4WDO's magazine comments...you are BEYOND bent and touchy over that...holy crap... It actually reads like this:

TECH: I keep seeing them, but they haven't grown on me aesthetically yet. I can't stand the bumpers and the rear end just looks horrid. That being said I really like the one Slee built up for the Alaska trek :D

See post 13. I was messing with semantics. Sorry Ben.

Check out how WIDE the 200 is next to a Sequoia. When I seen this I couldn't believe it!

That's an LX570 with all that gawdy chrome....Yeeeuk !! Absolutely horrible . Compared to that thing, the Sequoia looks pretty darn good. I dunno, the 200 might look better in darker colours. That white one doesn't look so fetching. X 3 or 4.....Very mini-vanish looking from there rear. From a looks only perspective, 80's are tops !!

I agree with you Shotts. It is terribly wide. IMO, the rear on the 200 just isn't very attractive. I was behind one on the highway the other day and I think what's wrong is the distance from the tail lights to the bumper is too great. Drop the tail lights down a few inches and it might not be so "unattractive". I want to like the thing but it isn't coming very naturally to me. I'm still probably going to get one , nevertheless !! :D

I think the 200 is attractive. I just pointed out how wide it is. The thing is big...big. Maybe too big for serious wheeling but we don't know that yet. time will tell.

OK, fixed it....:D
