Cloth and unlocked - deal breakers. But it is a nice looking truck. A bit steep too though. thanks for the heads up.

Why does it have to be locked??

Because eventually, it will be mine :)

Most likely it is cheaper to find a mildly built one and add lockers than to find a low mileage one with lockers.

Just saying

Hey Al, I see your point but here's the deal. Wifey wants an 80 - super clean, low mileage for her DD. She will be coming out of her '04 Cherokrap to fund this purchase. If I go ahead and find one locked, I won't have to justify $1.5K to ADD lockers at some point.

We are in no real hurry, and have found a few that fit the bill, but have been beaten to the punch.

And if you aren't in a rush there is no reason to settle for one w/o lockers. I just got lucky that the one I found had them, but knowing what I do now if I was in the market for one, I'd wait it out just like Ramon is.

I definitely agree with factory lockers on the 80.

I'll throw it out again that if you want something to replace the Chunkokee as her daily driver that the 100 is probably a better choice. Smoother ride, quieter, more power, safer with the VSC (2000+), and rear locker or ATRAC. Plus it's easier to find them with lower miles. We bought our y2k with 83k.

I know... it doesn't have the solid front axle, but you could always do the 80 axle swap like Slee (later). :grinpimp:

Ramone,

Land Cruiser 4x4 with Differential

Couple of things...
1) Don't know if FL (panhandle) is too far (you have been looking for a while)
2) Assuming "w/ diifferential" is intended to mean lockers. Steering wheel is blocking the switch in the picture so I can't tell.
3) Posted on the 12th so it may not be around anymore

That said, I thought it was worth bringing to your attention.

I "was" looking for an 80 as well. Not seriously, but kind of if I found the deal of a lifetime kind of thing. Then I started looking at Richard's 100 and got to thinking it was pretty sweet. Looking around some more, and I noticed that the 100's are coming of age in terms of accessories and all.
This pic pretty much sums it up for me.....dang nice.

Slap a set of bumpers and slider and you are golden. Honestly, after having ridden with the FJ's on the CON, I have changed my perspective on IFS just a bit. Short of coilovers on mine, I'm pretty sure the FJ flexes as well as my 40 in basically stock form. And you know, I have been able to go everywhere I'm comfortable with. The 100's have their flaws, but are still pretty sweet trucks if you need a daily and part time wheeler.

That truck is sexy for sure!! I like the modded 100 series better every time I see one like this.

Wonder how much that truck would sell for?? (sorry for the hijack).

Looks like the search has ended, maybe...

Well, have a "contingent" deposit in on a '95. Lockers would not engage, and we brokered a deal based on the current owner correcting the issue. It has a few more miles than we had hoped (130k), but the body is really clean. Interior is a 8/10 since the front seats will need to be recovered. Some rust on the undercarriage, but the body is clean.

Good news:

ARB front
Warn 12k
OME J's / Heavies (two sets of springs) - right now on J's front w/ 10mm spacer, and heavies rear
Uninstalled Snorkel (anyone want to buy it :) ?)

We'll keep you posted, but a quick preview:

Very nice. Does the rack come with it?

Very nice indeed..... let me know what you want for the snorkle and I might be able to safe some up for it.

It does come with, but it's no prize. The roof rack will need some TLC.

This is N. Virgina / DC rig so it has it's share of rust on axles / undercarriage - all stuff that just needs some time and attention. However, none of it is rot and the body has zero rust. All the aluminum has some oxidation (powdery), so it's not "perfect". But with just a bit of attention we will have it clean as a whistle.

not to hijack your thread here but I have wheeled with Steenh from the Ga Cruisers. His 100 is really nice. He has a slee rear bumper, lift, snorkel, winch bumper w/winch and some nice shoes on it. It wheels great and I am sure drives like a dream on the highway.

Ramon,
Did you pull the trigger on that 80? It looks like a nice rig.
