well guys what do you think of the idea of 80 axles under my bj 70? i was planning to do the SOA spring over axle convertion on the original axles but i picked yp a set of 80 axles with diff locks and was thinking of makim them so the leaf springs will fit. what you think???

thanks

idea

Great idea, I am in the middle of the same process with air springs, I have only completed the front and I am working on the rear. The LC80axle with is about 140mm wider.

that's wide .. 60 series are more than enough .. but with your axles what you can do it's run wheels with more backspacing ..

Great idea specially with factry diff locks ,
it seems to be quite a popular mod to 75 series here in Aus but the coil conversion comes along with it to
I've seen a 45 series with 105 series diffs under it and it had leaf mounts fabbed to the 105 diffs

WOW thats nuts
I would love to go spoa with 80 axles one day.

Coils ,
then you can raise and lower it when needed and to suit what height you need much easier than soa sua and more comfort

Interesting look.:hhmm:

IMO, it takes away the advantage of the narrow track of a 70. I like my truck because it can go where bigger (wider) trucks can't.
I don't see what is gained by putting 80 axles under a 70 ?

Why not just buy an 80?

Because 80s don't have as much cool factor as the 7x series :D

For me it is to be able to make full turn with bigger tires without rubbing the frame, since there are really no forrests in Iceland, I do not have to worry about narrow tracks.

I have the rear axle welded, the wheels have 125mm backspace

Nope - if you want a 80 buy one. I buy mine to wheel around in not sitting in a garage being modified to hell. They are modified for practical purposes.

I love the 70 the way they are good luck getting these mods past the various inspections etc

Remember 80's are COIL and you I think are leaf.

First why do you want to do it? then list out the pro's and cons and the costs of what you are going to do (then double it) and the alternative costs.

As you can tell im not a fan it does nothing for the environment I drive in here.

70 and 80 series are very rare in ireland! and also very exspensive my 70 is only good for off roading:) the 80 series axles with diff locks are like hens teeth it was a miracle that i picked these up! and they also have disk brakes which my bj does not! the 70 is a swb! :)
