It was great to see so many returning faces and nice to meet so many of the first timers! The pot luck rocked, as did the BBQ/Raffle night. Holy smokes did the supporting vendors show up with awesome gear this year! The the extra social events on Wednesday night and drinks at the RumBar where a bonus. Smackee - thanks for hooking up the copious amount of malted barley and hops beverages too...that was a hit with many folks.

Thanks Chris and Stan for your months of planning and hard work. This was the best HIH yet, out of the five I have attended!

Wow!! HIH7 is off to an awesome start!!! Thanks to everyone here and supporting this amazing event. @paflytyer and I can't believe how legit this thing has become.

Chris and Stan, it didn't "become this legit" you two MADE it what it is today!

I have so much gratitude for so many folks involved with this great event, HIH7 was the best yet.

Thanks all!

Sorry just seeing this now - we're having breakfast at roast and toast then heading to Crested Butte over the pass to Aspen
Right now the only backcountry route from Crested Butte to Aspen that is open is Taylor Pass. Kebler Pass is also open but it is more of a dirt county road than a backcountry route. It is pretty though.
Schofield Pass and Pearl Pass sound like they will be a few more weeks till they open.

Thx @xlcaferacer for posting this info. We took Kebler Pass today which was more of a dirt road as you said, but a beautiful ride over to Rt. 133. Had a quick coffee and muffin at Camp 4 Coffee. What a cool town - wish we had more time to explore. Currently in Leadville getting pounded with a nasty hail storm! Leaving CO tomorrow likely end up somewhere in Nebraska. Be back next year!

Just a quick shout out to all the guys I was able to wheel with - have to meet more of you next year :)

Matt - thx for all the laughs and looks like Jess and Kelly will be digital pen pals. Edward find me your twin LX and I'll fly out to TX to visit. Aaron I'm not much of a fisherman but next time I'd like some fly fishing tips from you or at least how to build and pack Kiss drawers :)

Oliver thx for showing us how Kiss drawers are supposed to be built and packed hope Maddy moo had fun?! Connor and Kevin congrats on winning front bumpers - post pics when those bad boys are on. Cliff I can't wait to retire and become you.

Blake and Blair keep those minty smoky topaz LXs I've never seen that color in person before this event. Duncan, good luck on the driveshaft repair you and maxse01 will get nothing but good karma next year!

Chris thx for encouraging us to do the alpine loop it turned out to be our favorite trail day. Sabastain and tiera had fun w you guys on Black Bear seeing that minty Gold LX laugh at all the obstacles. And will and Linda for giving us some other cool sites to see in CO before heading back to Boston. Hope to have a beer w you guys in Fort Collins!

@RND1 thanks and nice to meet you! We both made it home safely with our rigs. We'll be back next year!!!

Andy,

Great to meet you and John- thanks for leading and supporting a great ride on Friday.

I had the intention of seeking out the LA and TX guys to find out more about your BigBend adventures, only to learn after you left that you were the two guys I was looking for.

Ha, yeah hated i had to leave early. Shoot me a PM anytime, be glad to talk RE Big Bend, it's an awesome place.

Appreciate it. John and I had a great time on that run, was a really great trail and we had a really great group.

Feel free to PM. Been out there once for some family hiking. Really interesting place.

Poughkeepsie was a great run with a great group of people. Now one of my favorite trails!

Made it home about 5:30, after leaving camp about 11 (yes, I was the last one). I'm happy to report no broken bones this year, which I couldn't say 2 years ago when a mishap with the popup trailer resulted in my wife getting a broken arm. Stan and Chris (and all the other volunteers), thank you for organizing an incredible event. I didn't get to see what HIH1 or HIH2 were like, but I can certainly say things have gotten bigger and better since the ones I've attended (3 and 5).

Stan and Chris, thanks for putting your trust in me to lead a couple runs. To all those who were on those runs, thanks for putting your trust in me to get you safely out on the trail and back to camp, even if we got a little lost, a couple of times. I am definitely going to invest in a tablet with GPS and a good map application before next year. Relying on marginal maps and expecting the county/FS to post signs that make sense (which they don't) proved to be mistakes. But we did get to have some adventures.

Thank you for helping us out!! Without solid trail leaders, we wouldn't have a great event.

Been a long ride home for me. After leaving HIH HQ yesterday, I noticed my voltage was way low on both batteries. By the time I hit Ridgway, one battery was 10.5 and the other was 11.1 and neither was charging.

Stopped at Turner Toyota in Montrose but they didn't have an alternator. Couldn't get one until Wednesday. NAPA couldn't get one until Thursday.

I had the dealership charge both batteries and I bought a third. I also bought a solar charger to maintain whatever battery I was using. The plan was to drive home to Denver on 3 batteries and a charger.

Unfortunately, I didn't leave Montrose until 3:30 and it would likely be dark before making it to Denver, so I detoured to Aspen (home of HIH Hooligans Anders and Tim) for the night.

I lost everything just outside of Aspen and Tim brought me a battery booster to get me to his house. Charged both batteries last night and disconnected the DRL's before heading home to Denver this morning. Hoping to make it without using the $150 Toyota battery so I can return it.

@aegustafson and @74bruiser both immediately responded to my text asking for a place to stay. Just one of the many reasons why the Hooligans are a big part of HIH.

The official HIH7 Trip Report thread will be up this evening.

VERY curious about the black and white photo....what is the horizontal Hi-Lift mount? Looks like it's mounted to the hatch. Anyone know?
