Left the Boston area at 8:30am this morning. Arrived at our first KOA cabin on the western side of PA. 600 miles day 1. Next stop St. Louis.

My pics won't attach from the spotty wifi in my cabin. Will try tomorrow.

Yellowstone was amazing. Glad to have a couple days without that trailer behind me.

When I get to SLC I want to find some Uinta black lager. Until then I'm drinking coors light all the way til I hit the Rockies. Gotta keep it real.

Can you offer advice for someone who's never had to manage this issue?

If you fill up all the way, the sun/road/air temps are so hot that the fuel is expanding and building pressure. Our systems are not the best at recycling that vapor like they're supposed to. Happens at high altitude as well. Venting your fuel cap when you stop will help, but vent it slowly. There is a fair amount of pressure that builds up. You may hear a gurgling and see the vapor rising so fast out of the closed cap that it turns the vapor back into liquid and it will run down the side of your truck. Open the cap slowly and let the tank and lines vent. I've stopped filling up all the way, especially when I'm traveling in the high country or when I'm on the trail sloshing fuel around. That's seemed to help and I haven't had any issues for a few years.

I've been told that the charcoal in the charcoal canister will never dry out once it's wet, but I know that my system is working way better than it used to. Whenever I fill up, I stop 2-3 gallons short of full and I never top off. Seems like it's helped.

Pulled into Amarillo for the night.

Just before we got here, I looked and saw my AHC light was showing I was in low mode...and I was doing 70-80 mph! I freaked, slowed down and pulled off on the next exit. I stopped, got out and walked around the truck. It looked like it's on neutral, in fact it is.

But I stuck the flashlight down on the AHC reservoir and it is sitting at the minimum line. Turns out what I thought was the fluid line was a stain on the plastic of the reservoir. I'm dumb for not double checking this. I think it's the reason the truck won't go into high. Does that sound correct to you guys?

Also, anyone know where a guy can get some fluid on a Sunday....in Amarillo or in between here and Durango?

I'm blaming this on the Toyota place that "fixed" my problems not too long ago since my cap was missing when I got it back. So I have some foil and zip tie for a cap now!

If you have fluid in the resovoir then you are fine. Even if it's low.

You are in low mode because you are overloaded. Get everyone out of the vehicle close all doors and it will more than likely move back to normal. Mine did exactly this (when heavily loaded) before I added the King springs.

It went back to normal after I turned the truck off and back on. And the irony of having those springs sitting in a box at my house right now. One more thing I didn't have a chance to get done before leaving.

Boring!

Wrapping things off to take off in the AM, go to start the cruiser and a loud winding noise is coming from the engine bay towards front passenger side. Goes away when warmed up. Not sure if its power steering, alternator, idler or tensioner. I got one of each except for the power steering they didnt have one. Taking them with me just in case, whatever it is hope it waits to fail till I get there!

Everyone is also required to have a working CB. Please ensure you can communicate on the trail.

I'll chuck the antenna analyser in the car; if anyone is curious to sweep their antenna just find me at some point.

If it is a loud fan type noise could be fan clutch going out. Mine seized up at end and sounded like a Cessna going down the street.
