Just finished cutting what was left of my rusted tub off the chassis. Getting ready for a complete Aqualu body swap and partial restoration.

In the process, I had to cut all 6 of the primary body mount bolts as as severe rust had fused the bolt to the nut and most of the washers had completely disentegrated. Of course I pitched out these parts assuming the '79+ poly body mount kits would include hardware (hardware only comes on '78 & earlier).

What size/length/pitch/grade METRIC bolts came stock from Toyota?

What size/length/pitch/grade STANDARD bolts did you use (instead of stock)?

Thanks!

i can look when i get home, however i did get mine from my toyota dealer. they no longer can get bushings but the nuts bolts washers they did get.

did you try search?

There's a great thread here about "nuts and bolts". It has tons of bolt sizes. You can find in under search. This is what I found under that thread -

Body Mount bolts
12 10mm x 1.25 x 50mm. w/23mm shoulder. Flat + split washers
Note: Tip of OEM bolt was ground to a point to aid in inserting the bolt up through the mount and into the captive nut.

But, it doesn't say what year it fits (78- or 79+).

Hope that helps.

Yes, already searched and found the same info.

Note that the "nuts & bolts" post references 12 bolts for the body mount...this is for the pre-'79 FJ40.

The '79+ FJ40 only uses 6 primary body to frame mounts and the size of these 6 bolts is what I'm looking for...

Aqualu will provide the hardware for installing the tub when you order the tub...whoever sells it to you should do the same.

I'm going to need the sizes for my heritage tub. If you don't get the size by this weekend i'll take one off an get a measurement.

Yes, Aqualu confirmed today that they do indeed provide these 6 bolts as part of the cowl & tub that I ordered. Just wasn't sure if this was part of the hardware or not...

Thanks!

Just be advised that the body mount bolts and nuts won't be metric, and the will not be stainless...a lot of the other hardware will be, it's kind of a mishmash.

Has anyone come up with an answer on how long the bolts should be for a '79 and later 40 series? Also, if you can list a few places that sell good quality body mounts for the '79 and later that would be helpful.

The only body mount bolts that survived when I took tub off frame where the 2 bolts which mount to the mid-body bridge.

They appear to be 10 mm not sure what pitch. Shoulder is 50 mm, total bolt is 95 mm.

As you can see the head is different the end is slightly pointed, and it was double nutted.

see attached pic.

Is it true that there are 6 bolts in total that hold the body to the frame? Are all six bolts the same length as what what described by KY Longhunter? By the way, thanks KY Longhunter for the measurements and picture!

Yes, 6 bolts.

2 in front floor pans, 2 in mid-body tub bridge, 2 in rear sill.

But I cant really confirm the length of all six bolts.
