Here are a few pics from the day I brought it home (3 months ago) to today. It is a 79' with 92k original miles, colorado native. bought it with no carb and the inside wast a rats nest, REALLY a rats nest. It had been sitting next to a cabin for the last 10yrs. It has the fred flinstone special driver floorboard, the rear floor is not much better but the exterior is pretty nice ( I love the original signus white or is it 033 white in 79'?). First I did all the motor work, carb, valves, desmog, dizzy, plugs, wires, fuel filter/ pump, fluids, intake exhaust gaskets etc.... Then I did the ARB bumper and yanked front/rear axles and completely went through, marlin seals, 4:88's, ARB's front and rear, birfs, brakes, TRE's etc... Next was a complete 2.5 OME lift and 34x9.50's which was cool but not where I wanted the truck, plus it was a little deep with the 88's in the diff. Finally last week I put on a 4.5" safari lift and a new set of 35x12.50 MTZ's on black rockcrawler rims, we bent up some 14 ga. corners and took her down yesterday for all new exhaust that we routed over the frame in front. Now its time to bolt on the new shocks, mount the ARB compressor, run lines and get some sliders welded up! I bought almost all the parts to build this truck from members here on mud! THANKS!

Where did you buy the old style front bumper ? or you just made it ? im looking for one also for my 1980 fj40....thanks

Yes that is where I live. I bought the ARB from a guy in denver used, I love that bumper, I dont think they make them anymore though. Thanks for the comments.

what brand of tires are those you had, the 34x9.5s?

look great by the way

looks good man. I like the looks of the LTB's but agree the MTZ's probably ride a WHOLE lot better.

I miss my 40 :( don't you need another 80 ;)

The MTZ's do ride WAYYYYY nicer than the LTB's. Got it up to 70mph on the speedo, it was fairly smooth with the air gun pellets in the tires instead of weights. I sold the old lift to a mudder in washington already. I really dont need another 80! I got the 3 link done on mine a while back and I am picking up my NV4500/60 case that got mated togather next week for that project, I just keep spending too much time on 40's! Here is one more pic from my test drive today.
