Wanted 79-84 40 parking brake handle/bracket (1 Viewer)

Looking for late model parking brake handle and floor bracket that cable attaches to. I’m showing two versions of the floor bracket 79-82 and 82-84 so hopefully someone can chime in with that info. I know there is a difference with the cables that follows those years but not sure what the difference is there either.

It’s a retrofit either way so might not matter.

Yes, however that might be a 60 bracket? The mounting hole pattern is about 1” smaller on the 40’s.

What is the center to center measurement?

There are two handles here. Foreground handle is a 1982 FJ40 (3/82 mfg date). Background handle is a1980 FJ40 (11/79 mfg date). There is a slight difference in the length of the catch pawl and the teeth pattern. I do not see any other differences in the handles. Bucket looks the same on both. Of course downstream from the bucket you have major differences in the parking brake setup.

I have an 83 project here that is missing the handle. Here’s its bolt pattern. Roughly, from IPhone camera measurements.
I have a friend with a 82 RHD HJ47 and he measurements his at 2.5x4.25” roughly…

This here looks like it will match up a lot more with a 60 handle then a 40 handle?
@gtscotty would you be able to compare your handles’ mounting pattern?

Ok some more pics. There is a slight variance between the 1982 (beige) and the 1980 hole measurements. The most critical measurement is the 6 inch diagonal (opposite of what you have in your picture) as those are the two mounting points of the handle. My 1980 handle is 6 inches across that diagonal. In reality there is plenty of play in the whole thing. Just don’t weld up anything until you have the handle you are going to use. Also note the support plate on the underside.

I think the actual “hole pattern” above is the same in both pictures. It is really the bucket
“bowl” that has the variance.

The one I show in the first photos measures 5 7/8” diagonally.

Well I got my 40 handle in... it ended up being 1" or so too short for this 83 FJ45 but a handle and bracket from a 60 worked out perfectly.
