This 40 looks really clean. Should be a steal for somebody.

I would like to know how the frame and electrical look. top looks rusty to me.

I just went out and looked ... A fiberglass tub, which I know nothing about but here's the pics
I'll post some thoughts on the engine after all the pics

Coming from the huz (and our comparison is to my 74 FJ40 with 2F) On the engine start up

Recommend checking the compression on all cylinders - sounds a little flat. Heavy blue smoke on start, decreased a bit after running. Definitely needs a tune up and for the most part, we both thought it would benefit from being ran more often. The guy bought it from a marine and it had sat for quite awhile. Current owner says he replaced starter, radiator and alternator...If the 78 came with an Aisin - that is not what is in it now. Discs on the front, drums on the back..He's pretty honest about the electrical, says it has a short in it - messing with the signal lights but that he hadnt gotten in to that yet.

To be honest, anything that wasnt fiberglass had rust - but the frame looked A+ Solid. My pictures are to point out the wrong things - as thats what Id want to know. He replaced the tub with a fiberglass tub, this was the first Ive seen, so I wasnt sure of what areas to specifically look for problems in.

Exhaust needs work, Looks like a fast spray over. 2 cents. ...Mike

Those are 33x11.5x15s - I apologize for the odd 'blue' pics - once I figured my phones camera was poo-ing the bed, I switched to the huz's. The hood looks real bad on the front corners. The front fenders do not look well attached, or as if they had pulled away.

Overall, for eastern NC FJ40 - its definitely a candidate with a good solid frame. Before anyone asks, I did not drive it - out of choice. I felt bad about not being the buyer and did not want to further waste his time. He's a real nice guy - loves his yotas (he has 3) but has family health issues that have taken over as a priority. His phone number is in the craigslist ad..and if you decide to come out this way to see it - let me know! We'll do beers somewhere near.

I know you saw it run but how did it drive?
