77 FJ40 in Denton, TX, for $5000

The shop I take my cars to had this 1977 FJ40 sitting in the yard. I don't know much about it other than the basics. They just put a DUI distributor in it and I know it runs...not sure how well. I don't think it had AC but it does have a winch and some auxillary lighting. It appears to have some kind of slow drain on the electrical system because it will drain the battery over a day or two. It is not perfect (diamond plate on quarters and floor) and will need some work.

The rig is at J&L Rodwerks (940-300-2571) in Denton, TX, for $5000. They're good guys and haven't steered me wrong on any of my visits. Jacob at Rodwerks can give mechanical details I can also check it out again/take more photos since I live just down the street.

If you give them a call, let them know you saw the ad here, I might get a discount on getting my rear main seal swapped out!

Flynn, I sure may be interested in that. I'm only 90 miles from you. I'll give them a call right now and see if I can reach them. Any more pictures would be great and any more info, especially how much sheet metal is going to need to be replaced, how it runs, etc. I'll give them a shout and see if anyone answers. Thanks!

Rodney,
I can make it out Monday to get a few more photos and I can probably take it out for spin and give you my opinion. I'll let them know there's some interest and see if I can get a number to call over the weekend.

Hey that would be awesome. As a matter of fact, I have something going on today, but I could zip up there tomorrow if they didn't mind showing it on a Sunday. Thanks!

Try giving them a call. It can't hurt to ask. Otherwise, my offer for Monday still stands.

I have to drop off my other car there tomorrow, I'll get some more then.

OK, got some more photos. The starter tanked on us when we tried to fire it up but the shop is fixing that this morning so I should be able to hear it run next week when I pick up my car. I'll take a video if I can. Also, let me know if there's any other photos you'd like me to take.
